SHADES OF GREEN

Ever since “Greenery” was introduced as Pantone’s color of the year for 2017, green has certainly been on my mind. The color was selected to represent the fist day of spring…light and zesty. I don’t love the shade that was selected on its own but when paired with other shades of green I do think the combination can be beautiful. I also LOVE the thought process behind the chosen color which is explained on the Pantone site: “Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.” YES!

Green is one of those colors that just looks best (in my opinion) when layered with other shades of green. I suppose this is because in nature we see so many shades of green layered together. I love a gorgeous kelly green color mixed with shades of a more yellow-y version. The combo can look so fresh and sophisticated. Right now I don’t have a lot of green in the house other than plants and succulent arrangements. That’s my favorite way to bring the color in in terms of decor. However,  I am  going to up the greenery vibe outside on our deck this year! I’m inspired to make it more lush with greens while still keeping with the modern feel.

For fashion…I have a few pieces but they are all on the darker side. I’m looking forward to mixing and matching my greens in the coming months with some lighter, brighter pieces. I’m still very much in fall/winter mode (although it feels like spring in Texas) but already looking for some fun products. Here’s to being inspired by shades of green to appreciate nature even more this coming year! There are some fun “shades of green” finds below.
