HOLIDAY BAKING: COOKIES

this-roundup_holiday-baking_sweet-simplicity

It’s about that time…time to start baking! I can’t believe how quickly December has gone by. I know everyone always says that but this time it really feels like time is going by incredibly fast! I’m ready to slow down and fill my counter with holiday cookies.

Truth be told, I don’t really crave sweet stuff. A bite here and there of dessert is fine but I’m more of a savory gal. However, during the holidays it just feels like eating cookies is a must. There’s nothing better than baking in the kitchen with the tree on and some classic holiday music in the background.

To me, cookies that don’t go overboard on the sweet side are best. Sometimes I’ll even cut the sugar that the recipe calls for to keep the dough more balanced and less sweet, especially if other sugary ingredients are involved like chocolate and/or icing.

I’ve rounded up my 5 favorite cookie recipes that will be filling our kitchen with the sweet scent of Christmas this year. My mission is to make all 5. #goals. Get the recipes below! Happy Holidays!

CarCar, I’ve always loved this recipe! So versatile (you can use lavender and a bit of grated lemon peel instead of rosemary just for fun) and vary the sugar colors — when the Ravens and 49ers were in the Superbowl I did purple and black and red and gold. Most of the time I do pink and green though. 🙂
